Learn by making things happen
Scriptlands runs its own Python subset. You learn real programming ideas while controlling machines and robots. Player code cannot access your files, the internet or the game engine. The in-game Reference lists the commands available to the selected machine.
Research opens syntax
The factory ladder runs from T0 function calls through variables, conditions, loops, reusable functions, collections, events and classes at T7. Turtles teach basic variables, conditions and loops from the start. In co-op, earned syntax research belongs to the world.
Processors set the work budget
Syntax research and processing power are different upgrades. A machine’s installed processor limits how much work its program can do. An “out of ops” error is a reason to inspect loops, reduce work per run, or fit a suitable processor. Unlocking a syntax tier alone does not upgrade the processor.
Save, run, inspect, repeat
Use Save to keep code, Run to execute it, Step to inspect execution, and Stop to halt it. Errors identify a line and explain the problem. Searchable help, suggestions and examples are available in the editor. Program Disks carry named copies of scripts between machines.
Practice away from your survival factory
The quest book’s Code Challenges use private scenes and real machines. Repair a starter and compare your operation and line counts with your personal bests. These trials do not award survival items.
